Mmmm, chunky. Boots No 7 Instant radiance highlighter
No 7 are strong on highlighters, as anyone who remembers their lovely marbled Limited Edition from spring 2010 can attest. This is another limited edition, and instead of a powder compact, No 7 have gone with the chunky pencil zeitgeist and created this unusual and faintly phallic twist-up stick.
It's like a Chubby Stick of sumo proportions. Stocky, wide, and ready to deal you a pigment-packed kinjite of cheekbone-glow.
The creamy-but-not-greasy stick is packed with tiny shimmery particles - no hint of glitter in sight, just a lovely soft sheen. As someone who loathes glitter in highlighters with an irrational loathe, this is very good news for me. Generally speaking (glitter notwithstanding), the finer the particles the higher the price in face products. So I am very pleased to find this level of fine shimmer at a comparatively low price.
The base colour is a pale pink and the shimmer is cool gold, giving this an extremely subtle champagne duochrome finish when swatched. On the skin it's just a very neutral-toned, light shimmer.
You don't get as much product as the size of the stick would suggest - it's just 5.5g. The length of the barrel is just to give you grip as you apply. Overall the packaging is sturdy and well-made - I suspect it's come out of the same factory as most of the other chunky pencils on the market.
Sadly, as I said this is limited edition, part of the No 7 Christmas collection. It's well worth picking up as part of the current cosmetics 3 for 2 at Boots.
It costs £9.95 and you can find it here on the Boots website
